Our New Toy

Or should I say, the husband's new toy as he's the one who wanted it. He's been talking about getting a weather station for quite some time and finally found one he liked. He spent a good part of last weekend working on installing it and in between all the cussing, he seemed to manage to get it to work.

This is the rain and moisture gauge part of the station and I would show you the wind gauge that is on top of the roof except for the fact that hubby is on the ladder in the photo and he would not be happy to know I posted a photo of him online. Sorry, he's funny like that!
Here's what the weather monitor looks like all lit up on the wall between our kitchen and family room. The station actually measures more than just the wind and rain - it lets us know the humidity level and temperature outside as well as inside, wind chill, sunrise and sunset times, moon phases, barometric pressure and other factors that escape me at the moment - so it is quite a cool little gadget!

It comes in handy for getting a much more accurate feel of the weather here at home so if you're in my neck of the woods and wish to know the true statistics on any given day, give me a shout!

We're Ready for Fall!

I was gone all day on Saturday so it was dark when I returned home in the evening and when I woke up on Sunday morning, this is what I saw outside my front door. How cute is that?

As much as my husband dislikes holidays anymore, he always seems to like decorating for the autumn season for some strange reason. He does a great job, too, don't you think? It was all his idea - even having the straw people holding hands. Awwwww!

My Last Blog Post

Okay folks, I thought today was the last day of this yearly challenge I created for myself last September but guess what? It's a leap year so there is actually ONE MORE DAY that I should be posting! But, I am going to be so super duper busy the entire day tomorrow that I may not get a chance to post so I am going to make this the 'official' last day of this challenge.

I just want to thank you all for being a part of this year's challenge to myself. I know the majority of you never even looked at most of my posts but I won't hold it against you! We all lead very busy lives so I understand completely how hard it is to be totally faithful in everything. I just hope that you did receive some sort of inspiration from at least one of my posts! I will keep this blog alive but have not decided what my next challenge will be yet. You all weren't any help in that matter!!! Ha ha! It's okay! Thanks again and I hope the next 365 days will be happy and healthy for you and yours.

Woohoo! It's over! No days to go - none, nada, nil, zilch and every other word that means 'zero'!!!

Gift Card Holders

I was playing with the new 'Artiste' Cricut cartridge a couple days ago and made these cute little gift card holders. Betcha never would have guessed that's what they are, huh?
This is what they look like on the inside. There's a cute little tag on the inside but you can replace it with a gift card if you wish or put a gift card in along with the tag. Whatever you want is fine! That's the beauty of handmade.

Pink Panther

One of my son's favorite stuffed toys when he was very young was this Pink Panther. He carried this little guy wherever he went and I'm sure he must have left it somewhere during that time period because I remember him being upset about it but I can't for the life of me remember how old he was or any other details of that time.

Not good! Not good at all! I need to start writing this stuff down and get it in my scrapbooks before I totally forget all the little things that helped shape my son into the man he is today. I do believe because of this stuffed toy, he got a Pink Panther tattoo sometime during his years in the Navy. I know, crazy, right? Only MY son would want a Pink Panther tattoo! I'll have to get a photo of it and create a scrapbook page featuring BOTH Pink Panthers! Stay tuned!

They're Baaaaackkk!

Stinkbugs - they're back but luckily nowhere near as bad as they were the past couple years. Every morning for the past week, this is what I've seen as soon as I walk into the bathroom after waking up. Not a pretty sight to say the least but it could be worse, I suppose.

Peppers Anyone?

Still getting plenty of yummy peppers from the garden. Take note of the purple pepper with the extra growth on it - pretty funny looking!

Wish we were still getting tomatoes but they didn't do well this year. They were a huge disappointment! I was only able to make 2 batches of sauce for the freezer unlike last year when I made TONS of it. We had so much we didn't run out until March. Oh well, every growing season is different!

Happy Birthday to me.....

....and my daughter. No, we don't share the same birth date but our birthdays are only 11 days apart and since she was here to celebrate my birthday today (even though my actual birthday was yesterday), we surprised HER with some gifts and a cake to share! She will not be around on her actual birthday, so we chose to celebrate hers today, too. Happy Birthday to us!

Yummy Dish

One of my most favorite dishes - homemade macaroni & cheese. Isn't this gorgeous? It's a pretty simple recipe that my dad gave me many years ago and I have made it more times that I could ever count. It is so delicious! I make it often for when company comes for dinner and I've never heard a bad word about it!

Stamps for Sale

While I was weeding out my scrap room today, I found a couple sets of clear stamps that I bought several years ago when I belonged to a monthly stamp club. I've decided to sell this set as well as the others I found because I've never used them! Why keep them, right? Let me know if you're interested in buying them!

A Visitor

This is the only shot I got of this big hawk that visited us this morning. As soon as I started to slowly open the sliding door to get a better shot, he flew away! Darn it!

Another one of those creepy orb spiders with the zigzag stitching hanging out in the garden. I seem to be seeing them everywhere this year and I had never seen one before. They really do give me the willies as I hate spiders. Luckily they don't invade houses or I'd REALLY be screaming! Well, not really as I'm not much of a screamer but I sure wouldn't be too happy!

Yet another repeat

I apologize but I am so tired from the last 2 days' ordeal that I can't think straight. Hope you enjoy the flowers anyway!
