My last Christmas card for the year

Last one! I hope you have enjoyed my 12 days of Christmas cards and that maybe I inspired you just a little bit to create your own handmade cards.

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and an exceptionally happy new year! Make it a great one!

A Cute Little Penguin from CTMH

This card is totally different from all previous cards I've posted because it has no trees but I hope you like it! That little penguin is pretty cute, huh?

This is the next to the last Christmas card I will be sharing because I must give some other pressing matters a bit of attention. After all, it is the Christmas season and there are things to be done to prepare.

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy crafting!

There's those trees again!

A little late with the card today, thanks to having to shovel snow again. At least it was just a couple inches and was easily pushed across the driveway and sidewalk for the most part. I sure didn't have to get on that boring treadmill today. The snow gave me a workout instead so I guess it is good for something after all! ;-)

On to the card.....I hope you aren't getting tired of these trees because I'm sure not! So many possibilities! And there's that 'Have a Holly Jolly Christmas' again, too! Haven't gotten tired of that yet either! Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a good one!

Warm Winter Wishes

I love the trees in this (G1063 Frosted cardmaking workshop) stamp set, don't you? They not only work for Christmas cards and/or scrapbook layouts but can be used for any year-round projects. They are gorgeous trees and can be inked in various colors to fit the project. And when you add a few dots of Z1484 red glitter gel to them, they are just perfect for Christmas trees. Love them!

Warmest Wishes!

I just love the color Pacifica from Close To My Heart and especially for Christmas card making. Here's a card like one I had created last year. I liked it so much I made another one and that's unusual for me. I find it very hard to make more than one of the exact same card - there are soooo many possibilities! - but when one design really grabs me, I have been known to make a second one. Hope you like this one!

Thanks for stopping by today! Stay safe & warm if you are dealing with the snowy weather like we are having today. Our first snowfall of the season and it looks so pretty! Off to take more photos! Have a great day!

May the beauty of Christmas.....

.....be with you all year through. Such a simple card but love how it turned out! B1116 The Beauty of Christmas was a favorite Close To My Heart stamp set of mine when it first came out a few years back and it still is!

A plain white card base, 2 strips of torn white cardstock, a piece of foam tape and black ink is all I used to make this card. Quick & easy does it and it's so mail-able.

Christmas Card #5

Not too sure about this card but thought I'd share anyway. Still trying to use up some older papers so here's another one from the Elemental pack from Close To My Heart but remember, it is no longer available. The Santa is also from a very old stamp set D1224 Holiday Joy, the border image is from the C1514 Pear & Partridge workshop stamp set - both of which are no longer available - and the sentiment is from the mini set M1028 Santa's Greeting. Ink and cardstock colors used are Olive & Desert Sand.

I hope you are getting some ideas for your own handmade Christmas cards. I'd love to see what you create, if you do get inspired!

Thanks for looking today! Have a good one!

4 on the 4th - December

1. Working on handmade Christmas cards is a lot of fun! I send out between 25-30 cards each Christmas and each one is unique. I don't like to mass-produce my handmade cards so I rarely ever make more than one of the same exact card unless it's coming down to the wire and I'm running out of time.

2. My basket full of supplies for when I work on my Becky Higgins Project Life mini album. I like to carry it to the family room and play while watching TV.

3. Love this antique wooden box (not sure what it's really called) with all it's drawers that my husband inherited from his mom after she passed away last year. I immediately put it to good use in my scrap room and I know she would be pleased to see it is being well taken care of.

4. I know this is silly but I took a photo of my TV when Good Morning America was saying goodbye and good luck to Sam Champion who was leaving the show to join The Weather Channel. I will miss seeing him on GMA and will need to be sure to watch TWC more often now. Best of luck to Sam - he's a great weatherman!

Holly Jolly Christmas Card

Do you think I'm wishing everyone a Holly Jolly Christmas? Of course!
I really love this stamp set with these trees and the sentiment so stay tuned for more cards using this set. Enjoy!

Thanks for looking! Have a crafty day!

Another Christmas Card

I love simple and this is one simple card! Pacifica cardstock and ink in several generations used again before running it through a Swiss Dot embossing folder. Can't get much simpler than that! And again, the best part is, it's mail-able! I am on a roll! Be back tomorrow with another card!

Thanks for stopping by!

OK, so I'm a little late....

I wanted to start posting a Christmas card a day here for maybe the first 12 days of the month but have been so busy I totally forgot. The best laid plans, right? Well, I'll start here with these 2 cards I recently made and they will cover the first 2 days of the month. My card for day 3 will be up hopefully by the end of the day but don't hold your breath!

I created these 2 cards with some old papers from Close To My Heart's Elemental paper pack which is no longer available but which I still have plenty of. The little tree is M1032 Tree Delights and the sentiment is from D1562 Frosted Cardmaking Workshop stamp set both of which are still available here. On the first card I used Pacifica ink and Smoothie on the second. Neither color is a traditional Christmas color but they worked perfectly with the papers and I love how the cards turned out. The best part? They are so very mail-able with no bulkiness to them to get messed up on the way to their recipient. Love that! Now off to make more cards!

Thanks for stopping by today! Make it a good one!

4 on the 4th

Here is my first post for my 4 on the 4th monthly endeavor.

1. Don't know what I would do without my coffeemaker. It sure helps to wake me up in the morning and get me moving. I usually enjoy at least 3 cups of just about any brand of flavored coffee and only black - no cream or heaven forbid, sugar! Nope, neither of them in my coffee!

2. Our lovely birch tree was planted soon after we moved into our current home almost 21 years ago. We have seen it grow from just a stick to an absolutely gorgeous tree that we hope will be around for many more enjoyable years.

3. This big bowl on my kitchen counter is always full of fresh fruits and veggies! Right now the luscious squashes and apples of Fall take up a lot of space in it.

4. It's time for those little birds to start visiting the feeder as the summer has left us and cooler days are here. Not sure what these 2 bluish-grey birds are...Nuthatches, maybe? Oh, and there's a Carolina Wren behind the Nuthatch on the right. Off to research those birds. Update: yep, they are Nuthatches!

Thanks for stopping by today! Make it a good one!

I Must Apologize

Oh my goodness! I can't believe how quickly time has flown since I last posted here. I have been so busy with various projects and life in general that I just haven't taken the time to share anything here. Well, I would like to try to post again on a regular basis so here is one idea I may pursue beginning soon.

I like the concept of posting a certain number of photos on the same day each month but since it is just me and my husband at home now - our kidlets have left the nest - posting just 2 photos each time doesn't sound very exciting, does it? So maybe I'll take 4 photos on the 4th of every month - since originally there were 4 of us living in this house before the kidlets moved out - then post them on the 5th of the month. Yes, I think maybe I'll do that! So since tomorrow is the 4th of November, I will take 4 photos then post them the next day. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, here's a small project I finished off today. I had made the actual card a couple months ago but just today was able to find the perfect photos to put inside. I plan to send this to my son and his wife for Thanksgiving. I think they will like it very much as it showcases photos of the day their baby boy was born, just 3 weeks ago tomorrow.

A New Dress

Thought I'd share a cute little dress I made for one of my granddaughters. I'm not sure which one of them it will fit so I have to send it to them to try on before making another dress for the one who this one doesn't fit. Did that make sense? In other words, I didn't want to make 2 of the dresses either the same size or one larger/smaller until I knew if this one fits either of them first.

I love the bright lime green color of this dress. It is so cheery! It's hard to see but there are butterflies all over the dress. Trust me, they are there!

The dress has 2 buttons on the straps and I haven't made buttonholes on any clothing in a long time so it was a bit of a challenge to me to get them just right. After struggling with them, I discovered I needed more practice! Ha ha! The buttons I used are clear flower buttons from Close To My Heart. Yep, that's right! I used scrapbooking supplies on this dress. That shouldn't be too much of a surprise to you if you know me! ;-)

Okay, off to the post office to send this to the little girlies to see who it fits! Thanks for stopping by today!

Just Playing Today

I made these 2 layouts today while trying to decide whether to start sewing a dress for one of my granddaughters or work on some artwork. The artwork won! I had these beautiful photos that just kept calling my name for the longest time so I decided to put them on some layouts. Both of the layouts are quite simple in design but oh so nice, don't you think?  I hope you like them.

This one was created with an old paper pack from Close To My Heart called Mayberry. I still had some of the gorgeous papers left and wanted to use them up. I kinda, sorta followed the sketch below to create my layout. I found it on Pinterest awhile ago. If you know me personally, you know I never copy something exactly as it is. I like to put my own spin on it. ;-)

This next layout was one I created on my own - no sketch involved. I used some scraps of the Dakota papers from Close To My Heart and a couple current stamp sets that I really like - D1543 Country Born & the set from the C1553 Chantilly Scrapbooking Workshop kit. I also used the word 'Remember' from the B1421 Scrapbook Statements-Women stamp set on the pull-out journaling tag.

Okay, that's it for today. I hope to post the rest of the photos from the April Photo-A-Day challenge soon. I meant to post some a couple days ago and got side-tracked, which seems to happen to me a lot lately! Sorry! I promise to post them soon!

Thanks for stopping by today! Make it a good one!

Photo of the Day Challenge - Part 2

Here are the next several photos of this photo-a-day challenge featured over at The Memory Nest blog. I did miss one of the days as I totally forgot to take a photo of a sunset on the 14th. I was out-of-town and got busy. I know, no excuses, right? Well, I could cheat and find a photo of a sunset from a previous day, I suppose, but I really don't like to cheat. Cheating makes me feel guilty and I don't like that feeling at all. So without further ado, here are the photos I did take beginning with #11.

#11 Hat
From my son's Navy days

#12 Game
Some of our favorites
through the years

#13 Anything
The bench that sits on my front porch

Missed #14 - Sunset ;-(

#15 Money
Money's always nice!

#16 Flower
Pretty Daffodil
For some reason Blogger will not let me add the next photo so I am going to put it in another post. Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a good one!

Hello, Hello, Hello!

I'm baaaaaaaackkk!! Well, sort of! I've been thinking about this little ol' blog for the past few days and wondering if it's time to revive it. What do you think? I haven't posted anything here since last October as I just wasn't sure what I wanted to post since the yearly challenge I had created for myself ended. I think I have decided to do another photo-a-day type challenge again following a guide from another challenge blog that I just discovered and want to try to participate in - maybe not every day but at least on a regular basis. So anyway, here is one of the challenges from that blog.
I missed the very first day and didn't start taking photos till the second day so I will begin with #2 - book - which is a current one I'm reading.

#3 Candy - If you know me, Reese's cups (or anything similar) are my favorite candy!

#4 Reflection - yea that's me! ;-)

#5 Bird - this isn't the best photo but bluebirds are so pretty!

#6 Begins with 'A' - nothing finer than our American flag

#7 Pocketbook - well, how about pocketbooks? Here are some that my daughter left
on the back of her bedroom door when she moved out a few years ago. I just borrow them from time to time. Why not, right?

#8 Outside - I know this is a photo of a bluebird again but it is taken outside so that counts, right?

#9 A picture in a picture

And now for today's photo which brings me to all caught up -
#10 Looking Down - Yep! Those are my shoes!

I may or may not get a chance to post for the next few days since I will be super-duper busy so if I don't, please be patient. I'll be back!!!!

I hope you have enjoyed my return to this blog and I hope YOU will return soon! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
